The Level 1 Award and Diploma in Art, Design & Media will provide you with an introduction to art, design and media, enabling you to both re-engage with education and acquire the requisite knowledge, skills and understanding to progress to further education or employment within the creative industries.
The qualifications enable students to:
Be introduced to the materials and processes used in art, design and media, and the skills necessary to record and express ideas
Be aware of how contextual research is used to support creative activities
Be introduced to the communication skills used in support of creative activities and develop an understanding of the role that communication skills play in informing and developing ideas
Use previously acquired skills, knowledge and understanding to explore and resolve 2D, 3D and
time-based creative problems
Demonstrate personal strengths in art, design and media and to use the knowledge, understanding and skills developed in previous units.
On the course you will find a friendly and welcoming atmosphere with two very experienced lecturers in their respected fields. With Allyson you will explore the fundamental design and art techniques to develop and refine an idea throughout your development. And with Chris, you will be able to take what you have explored into a digital world. Creating interactive and responsive designs for use across a range of mediums and applications.
You will have access to a wide range of resources, computers and software to work on the projects which are set for you. There is no limit to what you can achieve on this course from discovering the beginnings and fundamental design techniques, to finally develop these ideas into creative solutions.
